Talk about TI-84 Plus Silver Edition:

'Sup, you and all! I am JARVIS, bringing down the PokéHouse with the coolest, mind-blowing innovation EVER (well, for PokéFans, that is):
Pokémon Blue on your Calculator!
Now, before you exclaim, 'OmigoshtherespokemononacalculatorineedtogetitNOWonmycalculatoritssocool!' you have to know that I don't know if this method works for ALL calculators, but I do know this works for models TI-83, TI-83+, TI-84, and TI-84+ calculators. If you have another type of calculator, search it up on Google to see if it's possible. You good? Then let's calculate Pokémon!
Now, before you start tinkering with you TI-84s and wonder how it's possible on a number generating machine, it is CRUCIAL to know that THIS Pokémon Blue is NOT the same game as the Gameboy game from your childhood. How do I explain this? Ok, look at this.
As you can see, pictures and the overworld sprites and characters as well as the moves and complicated stats and some key features are removed to be able to fit the game file into the small memory RAM of the calculator. A calculator usually only serves for the purpose of calculations and nothing else, so most calcs don't hold a lot of memory space. It's still fun, though!
To start, let's gather the materials you need.
Essentials:
-Calculator (method varies with model) TI-83/4(+)
-USB cable for the calculator
-A computer with internet access (preferably Windows than Mac, but that's ok, too.)
Now that you have your things, open your computer to a web browser and enter this website address:
This should send you to the main page for 'Texas Instruments Get the Latest Now!'
In the 'Technology' slot, select your version of the calc you have (I chose TI-84 Plus since that's what I have), and in the 'View' slot, select 'Software Connectivity' and press 'Find.'
Once that's done loading, near the bottom of the page, there should be 3 selections for the download link: 'TIConnect CE Software,' 'TIConnect Software,' and 'TIConnect Software for Macintosh.'
The reason I prefer Windows for this is because Mac has some OS issues that are under repair, but Windows still operates just fine. So, if you have the Windows, select 'TIConnect CE Software.'
You'll be directed to another page with a list of 3 download links and other guidebook downloads with several language choices. Click the very first one with (EXE) on the side.
You'll be asked to sign-in before downloading, but you can ignore this and press 'Continue as guest' to proceed the download.
Once that's done downloading (on Windows, I hope), open or extract the file and a folder with the same name should appear.
In the folder, there should be the app itself, 'TIConnect.' Open that and it should run perfectly.
So the window you're presented is the Mac-equivalent of iTunes, except it's for a calculator.
On the side (or wherever the sidebar is), select the 'Calculator Explorer' tab to see rows of empty blanks.
Now, if you haven't already, plug in the calculator to your computer with the USB cable and the empty blanks in the TIConnect window should have the calculator's model, representing the plugged-in calc.
Since the TI-84 (or your other version) is plugged in, you'll need the games. Hopefully, you didn't disconnect your internet, 'cause you'll be needing it again. Click the link to go to this website for the game.
Although there are overwhelming numbers of Pokémon links, find the one that reads 'pokemonblue.zip' next to the bold text 'Pokémon Blue version 2.0.' Select the link and it will automatically download for you.
When it's downloaded, (which shouldn't take too long since it's less then a megabyte), extract the zip file and open the folder.
There will be specific instructions that will follow with the file, so read and comply by dragging in the right files into the calc tab on the TIConnect window.
Upon doing so, another window will preview what will be added to the calc's RAM and Archive. In the instructions, it will tell you to put some files in either the RAM or the Archive. Corresponding to the instructions, adjust the files to where they will be copied and then press Enter.
Once they are all copied, you can plug out the calculator and start playing! Wait, you don't know how to start the game, do you? To do that for a TI-84, you turn it on, press the Program button (PRGM) and a list will appear. One of the selections should be PKMNBlue or PokemonBlue or whatever it's name is (you can edit the name on the TIConnect app on the computer). Press enter to select it, press it again to activate the Pokémon program, and game should start!
(The controls are also in the instructions with the extracted Pokémon file on computer).
And there you have it: a game you can play with during your long, boresome math classes at school. Hopefully you liked this and the use it will be for your math classes!
